- Before I ordered I called the company. I have upholstery fabric and lined for sliding windows. Very heavy. The lady recommended these. With that said, I received them, they are metal, thin and light. I haven't installed yet. I was told to use a set of 8 on each side. They look sturdy enough. Mine will be 5" apart
